Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14 every year and it is a day to express love and affection towards loved ones, family and friends. The meaning behind Valentine's Day dates back to ancient Rome where Saint Valentine, a Roman priest, was imprisoned and sentenced to death for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. While in prison, Saint Valentine fell in love with his jailer's daughter and wrote love letters to her before he was executed. Today, Valentine's Day is celebrated with gifts such as flowers, chocolates, and cards, and is considered a day to express romantic love and affection towards one another.
